In passing a statute in 2023, Governor Walz REMOVED the requirement for newborns to receive lifesaving care from healthcare providers. This includes, but is not limited to newborns that survive botched abortions. Under current MN law, newborns are only required to receive “care,” a term which was discussed by MN legislators and is understood in this statute as comfort care, which aids one on his or her way to death.
